Tribute & Message From The Family

Priscilla Ann ("Pat") Tharpe Kidwell, 76, of Boise ID, passed away peacefully and surrounded by the love of her devoted family on September 25. She had been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) in early August.

Pat was born February 1, 1940 in Wheatland, Wyoming to James E. and Bonnie V. Tharpe. She attended schools in Caldwell, Idaho. She married William R. Kidwell on April 30, 1956. Over the years, they resided in Caldwell; Burley; Spokane, Washington; Eugene, Oregon; about one year in Carmel, California; Nampa; and Boise.

Pat's early adulthood years were devoted to her husband and her three daughters. After her girls were older, she worked five years for Albertson's Corporate Office in Boise. She was later employed by Idaho Power Company for approximately 20 years. There she advanced to supervising a team of professionals in corporate publishing, including technical writers, webmasters and corporate publishing specialists, until her retirement. She and William also worked as independent investors and invested in stocks, options and commodities and several rental properties over the years and worked together managing and maintaining them.

Throughout her life, Pat loved and cared for those fortunate enough to be part of it. As a young family, there were camping trips, fishing, target practicing, motorcycle rides, rock hunting, beach-combing and many other adventures. Pat was knowledgeable on the computer and enjoyed "playing" on her iPad (a gift from her children), as well as crossword puzzles and reading. As an intelligent woman, she had an active curiosity, loved to learn and constantly read about many subjects that grabbed her interest. She was a gifted artist, talented musician, an exemplary homemaker and an outstanding cook. Pat had many family pets through the years and she loved and cared for each them with all her heart. While she enjoyed many activities and aspects of her life, there was nothing more important to her than her family. She was a dedicated, caring mother and wife, compassionate, and always there for family and friends in times of need. She recently devoted much of her time and energy caring for her elderly stepfather and her mother in their final years.

She is preceded in death by her birth father, James E. Tharpe; her stepfather, Harold L. Faubion; her mother, Bonnie V. Tharpe Faubion; her older brother, Daniel ("Pete") L. Tharpe, (who passed in January this year); and three infant daughters, Victoria, Dawna, and Barbara, who each passed at birth.

Pat is survived by her husband of 60 years, William R. Kidwell, and their three daughters: Julie (and husband Ronald) Marple, Jenny Allen, and Brenda Kidwell; six grandsons: Erik (and wife Jennifer) Marple, Matthew Allen, Steven Betts, Jason Allen, Brandon Atkins, and Dustin Atkins; and a great-grandson, Ethan Marple. Her second great-grandchild, Madison Betts, was recently born.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Luke's Hospice Care for their extraordinary and heartfelt support during Pat's final days.

Services will be held at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road in Boise on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with James Zamara officiating. Visitation will be the same day from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
